About Simone Usselman-TodIn May 2004, with 20 years experience with Hamilton Health Services, Simone Usselman-Tod resigned from her position as an x-ray technologist. "I have found a job that I love even more than the job I have loved doing for the past 20 years," she explained. Simone received her human bowen certification with Bowen Canada and traveled to the United States for Animal Bowen prior to starting her own business A Touch Beyond, in Ontario Canada.
Working in a traditional medical background as an x-ray technologist gave her a strong foundation, and her work with families and patients with a variety of health issues has helped her in dealing with difficult issues, and stressful situations. In 1996 she won an award for her staff and patient program "Hand in Hand", which addressed staff and patient care issues. She now draws on these principles in her day-to-day work in her new business. In contrast, after working in an often invasive medical field, she is now able to use gentle, non-invasive Bowen techniques to address a variety of physical and behavioural problems. Her cliental includes people and horses, as well as the occasional dog, cat and even a cow. Seeing the profound changes in her clients creates enthusiasm and focus in her work. "To able to offer pain relief and enhance the quality of life for an individual, either human or animal is extremely rewarding. To watch an animal's terribly crooked pelvis straighten, or to see an individual walk into the room who is struggling with their pain, and then after treatment look, feel, and behave in a much more relaxed manner reinforces the profound effects of body balancing through the Bowen technique." The opportunity to see changes in her clients continues to inspire Simone, "Pain relief, comfort, and freedom of movement is the greatest gift a therapist can offer. It is a win -win situation for all." Simone is also the Canadian Associate Clinician for the Dr. Cook Bitless Bridle www.bitlessbridle.com. | |
